Thanks all. Sorry, unable to trace who told me baptism was 1/2/1839. Have a note
he was baptised St Leonards aged 1. Good to have occupations of William and Maria's fathers.Hope this may assist in further research.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Nov 2014 17:52

Margee I could'nt find it on the London records either. There was a William Pearson born 1818 whose father was a Traveller.

MargaretM Report 23 Nov 2014 17:33

Barry, where did you get the exact baptism date? It doesn't show up on the London records.

Assume you realised my typo error- should be 1839 not 1939.

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 10 Nov 2014 00:01

London baptisms don't have any record of that name, that date, St. Leonards Shoreditch.

Barry Report 9 Nov 2014 19:24

A few years ago a got a lot of help from the Genes community to trace the family of
my GGgrandfather above, but after many years I still have no definite proof who his parents were, but know his father was also William( from his marriage details).
He was born in the St Lukes (London/Middlesex?) in 1837/8 and baptised 1/2/1939
at St Leonards Shoreditch aged 1.
Any help would be appreciated

Both fathers 'deceased'. No names on the register

Witnesses William Henry Castleman, and Frances Hitches.

Which rules out the possibility that the nieces in 1861 were related on William's side. That closes another line of enquiry which could have been pursued.

If you 'know' when he was baptised, you must have his mother's first name

Is the 1862 birth cert proven - 100% - to be your ancestor?

If you obtain the 1859 marriage cert, you'll learn what the father's occupation was........might help with determining which is the correct family

Barry

Barry Report 7 Dec 2012 10:22

Thanks All,
Mel- The 1871 and 1891 are correct as Arthur was my Ggrandfather. I don't know how Chingford fits in (don't seem to be any other options), In 1861 they were living in Sydenham as their first child Annie was born there cSept 1860 , but I have got the birth cert. for William Henry Pearson 20/11/1862 which seems to fit as living at Hoxton Old Town and mother show as Maria Pearson formely Castleman.

What I am really interested in at the moment is finding the parents of William Pearson born St Lukes 1838 (living in Brixton Lambeth 1911)-father is also William-mother?
Regards
Barry.

I think you either need one of the childrens birth certs or his marriage cert to be sure you have the right one.
