Hi Kath.
As far as i know Raymond was in the Jeffery name as his half brother was told. That,s as far as i know. And i know from a good source that is what he called himself. So im presuming that was the case. Kind regard,s. Christine

If your grandfather and Raymond's mother never married are you sure that the child's surname would be Jeffery? It would be more usual at that time for the child to be registered in the mother's name (unless your grandfather went to the register office with the mother and claimed paternity).

I would consider getting the birth cert if you wish to confirm/discount him. Otherwise, he has middle initial J so you might try 192.com - there are only 10 Raymond J Jeffery births in England after 1916 so you are in with a chance!

Hi Jan.
Thanks for reply. As far as the family knows my grandparents were never divorced. It was an affair he had after he left my Nan. Yes have checked births & only one keeps sticking out. For 1940 but could be wrong. Thanks Christine.

Christine, just to check. You believe your grandfather had a son Raymond before/after he married your grandmother, yes? Where did you get the info from?
Have you checked Freebmd for possible births?

Hi.
Trying to find info on a Raymond Jeffery. Born between 1933 & 1940 Dartford Kent. His father was my Grandfather Arthur Benjamin Jeffery. & came from Sussex. I found a couple of births & one that struck me was of a birth for a Raymond Jeffery born 1940 Dartford. Would appreciate any info or any one who might know him or his family. He had two half brothers which i do not know if he knew about. My late father was one & the other Derek. I do know that Raymond might have worked at the Plasterboard at Erith at some time. I do not think Raymond.s mother & my grandfather ever married. Thank you. Regard,s Christine
