It would help if you posted the 1861 census for us to see............

Have you checked for deaths for William and Elizabeth?

Have you looked for a remarriage for Elizabeth?

regards to all john

MarieCeleste Report 24 Apr 2013 21:01

John, which other sites are you using for your research?

If you go to FamilySearch you'll find that Elizabeth had a brother and sister - search surname summers, parents Thomas and Susan and birthplace Ledbury.

Bearing in mind that people back then may not have had good levels of literacy (if any) it's small wonder their names are mis-recorded - they wouldn't have known if they were written down wrong.

ArgyllGran Report 24 Apr 2013 21:48

Brother Thomas is in all censuses to 1881, but neither Elizabeth nor William is with him. He died 1885.

Can't find any mention of sister Susannah, apart from birth/christening in 1830

John Report 24 Apr 2013 22:24

Vicci Report 25 Apr 2013 00:42

"a lady from australia e mailed me and said it was collicutt and was her 3/4 x g/dad "

which child of Christopher and Elizabeth is this lady descended from? how did she get back to the Collicut marriage in 1852?

might help to start from the beginning and work back.

the family obviously turn up somewhere, when where? names?

when does the family go to Australia?
