Husband Skelton is back in Kansas with his other son, therefore they must have been living between Kansas and Seattle as they are all found in Seattle at 1922

All the evidence says so.

I am certain that the info on Findagrave caused the confusion.
George was Skelton Snr's son, but he wasn't Florence's father.
Her father was almost certainly Skelton Jnr

The Seattle link more or less proves that too.

By his marriage Skelton and Mary had the following 7 children:

Their names are: Henry, who at present is a resident of Springfield, Ills,; John who was a resident of Kansas, and was drowned while bathing in a river. He was at the time in his 22nd year. Skelton, a farmer and resident of Greenwood County, Kansas: Harriet died in her second year; George, a farmer, also a resident of Greenwood County, Kas.; Mary and Elizabeth are yet at home.

I am starting to think that this Florence is the daughter of Skelton and Grace Gleason.

I am now thinking that the Florence that married Ebin Walter Pyle is the daughter of Skelton and Grace Birkett.

I have found records for all the rest of the children and their families.

EH No ! Looks like Skelton was simply not on the 1910 return, as he was in Kansas with his son Harold!
I have moved on to US Diectories and Skelton, Grace G and son, Donald Sketon are all still in Seattle at 1922

Well, if Grace was married to Skelton they certainly separated at some point as evidenced by the census records. I wonder if that's why his cremains (is that an American term?) were unclaimed?

Could it be that George was a loved uncle who stayed close to his niece so they're all buried in the family plot?

Must admit I had to go on Google maps to check out the locations - Kansas city is slap bang on the border of states Kansas and Missouri.

Re Findagrave...
George Skelton is on the family grave with his parents stating he died in 1954.
Florence A Pyle is also buried here.
However, there is no evidence that George was Florence's father.
I am guessing that the person who updated the info, assumed that they were father and daughter... there is no real evidence.

Now for the confusion....
Skelton Birkett...
George was last found in Missouri, which does seem to be where SKELTON's remains are held!

Hi Rachel - I do agree that they are 2 different people (have posted the 1870 above).

I'm still not 100% convinced on the accuracy of the FindAGrave transcription, bearing in mind that they're not official records and are possible prone to mis-transcription and human error.

Yes George definitely had a brother Skelton as I have two write ups on Skelton Birkett Senior born 1820 in Cumberland, England who married Mary Bland and later married Elizabeth Lenover. In the write up it lists all his children.

It's just such a huge coincidence that Grace Gleason and daughter Florence are also in Seattle Washington in 1910 where your Florence was just before she married .......
