Light finally shed!

Elizabeth(Betty) did move away to England/Wales. She did marry, we believe a welshman by the name of Dawkins??? More information still to be found or should I say given!

Unfortunately we have also dicovered Betty has passed away :(

But on the positive side. I have managed to help unravel a missing part of a friends life, find living relatives and she has now made contact with them!!

My apology rg I should have been more clear about the document. The document is regarding Elizabeth being at the same address in 1959. After finding out about the divorce it is now unclear who was actually living at the address.
I can only assume for the moment that Elizabeth was still living there possibly with her mother and step father. More research on that is now required.

Interesting that your friend has a document with Robert and Alice at the same address in 1959. They seem to have divorced in 1953?

Well that's the death certificate's ordered! Just need to wait on them arriving now.

I have now also found out that Robert and Alice divorced then Alice remarried Robert Crawford Robertson in 1953 in the district of Haddington, East Lothian.

So a quick search on Scotland's People to see if Elizabeth had married under the name Robertson but no result there either! No death record under Robertson either!

So still nothing on Elizabeth! Which is what I'm really looking for, so if anyone can help shed a bit more light on her it would be very much appreciated! :-D

There is always that possibility and that she is still alive! I think maybe a trip to the library and a look at electoral roles might be in order.

Will fill my friend in with an update tomorrow and see what she wants to do next.

Is it possible that she didn't marry?

Yes I have and none of them are a possible match due to either the middle name not matching or Elizabeth being the second name and none of them to a man called Mair.

There are only 16 Mack marriages with Elizabeth (forenames varients) in the whole of Scotland between 1955 and 2000. Have you used a credit to see if (1) any are in the area around East Lothian or (2) to check if any of them married a Mr. Mair ?

That looks promising then Marc. If that's Elizabeth's mother it will say if she is "married to" or "widow of" Robert. So that will narrow the timescale for his death.

Yes it is a pity! Will just have to order the certificate!

Marriage record shows his parents as Richard and Christina, ms Hamilton.

I think I may have found his now! Think my eyes need to start working properly!!

Certificates will need to be ordered now and then go from there I think.

Do you know Robert's mother's maiden surname please? It may be possible to narrow the search for his death using that. Or maybe by selecting the same county as that death for the Alice Mack?
