well i'm stumped now also on Williams baptism page is the baptism of Sarah York daug of James and Mary Ann he is also a wadding maker and living in Norfolk Place who on earth are they???????
the only other poss explanation is that william and ann were visiting their auntie and uncle on census night for some reason and got listed with the wrong parents?? how on earth do we find out for sure???
HEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPP am losing the plot now :-(

right 1861 William York b1852 is on the 1861 with his parents Jer and Caroline!!!
Ann Meredith York b1853 is on the 1861 and 1871 with her parents Jer and Caroline!!!
so i think that answers it???
did Jer and Ann also have a child ann at a similar time??? or did the vicar get the names mixed up as the child was ann did he wrongly put that down as the mothers name as well? often they weren't filled in straight away?

HI Mary glad i'm not the only one!! this lot do my head in big time!
i'm just going to add all the info above to see if it squares with what i already have. re Ann meredith york where did you get the info from as to her parentage. I looked at about 5 trees on ancestry and they all seemed to have copied one person without checking out the facts for themselves?? I contacted one as she had Henrys DOB down as 1783 instead of the correct 1804 as one of the census' is mistranscribed and she just replied yes i know it's wrong? well why not change it then????? As we know with so many rels with similar DOB and names it all has to be double checked!
back in a bit xxxxxx

This is doing my head in.
Ann York of Napoleon Place Bermondsey buried 15/1/1866.

Caroline York of 49,Old Nichol street buried same place 24/10/1871.(Widow on 1871) at Old Nichol Street.

William York married 1872 address 59,Old Nichol Street dad Jeremiah, William married Hannah Griffiths.
Yet it is said that William is son of Jeremiah and Ann!!

Caroline and Jeremiah are supposed to be parents of Ann Meridith York yet Jeremiah and Ann had her baptised.
1861 no Ann with Jeremiah and Ann but there is one with Jeremiah and Caroline!

there is only 1 death showing on free BMD March qtr 1879 ref 2c 289 age 68 Reading, can anyone else see any further details eg burial etc? the age is a bit out but depends who registered it as to whether they would know his actual age. Is there a prison in reading?

The problem is Helen, we can't find a death for either of the 'two' Jer*

I've checked Oz records, transportation and deaths and nothing seems to coming up. I guess your man could have died at sea

Do you know what happened to his cousin?
