Thanks... I was beginning to think this all to much hassle, but the help I have received from you all (including Reggie) over many years is invaluable for someone researching purely for the enjoyment of presenting a family tree to a person who is interested.

I think the marriage must have been short lived, as she appears to be with James W on the 1948 ERs under his name. Assuming this is the right couple, their address was 24 Clissold Road.

By 1963 2 more Robes are with them, both indicated as first time on the ERs - Richard W and Christopher.

Can't find her with William R, to try to follow him through to see if he remarried though, so as already said you would need their marriage certificate to get any further with him.

No-one has asked whether Mr Barber is alive.........he may not wish to be included in the tree

When your friend gets the necessary documentation (marriage cert) a search can be carried out based on the info it contains.

Why do people on here display such animosity towards Reggie?

I have found him very knowledgeable and helpful in my dealings with him

Ricochet,

This discussion is slightly off the topic of the thread, but as regards animosity to Reggie.

1) I thought Reggie was a she.

2) I do not believe we have shown animosity to her (him).

3) I just pointed out that I agreed with Nicola, and that if someone wants to put very distantly related people in their tree, with no relevance according to Reggie, that is up to them.

4)Reggie frequently comes across as being very abrupt, and this can be extremely off-putting to posters. (Not particularly so in this thread, I will admit)

5) If the tree is not on the genes site, they can put what they want.

6)Nicola acknowledges Reggie's help in the past, but has also said about the hassle that has arisen - so that is the effect that the comments from Reggie have had on her. No animosity.

The son's middle initial was W according to freeBMD. registered 1st quarter 1943.

And the Mother's surname is Killingrey, so perhaps it is a poor record.

I think it is more likely Nicola has the wrong initial - as it is Richard W that appears with them on the ERs in 1963/4. In 1963 it looks like he had just come of age.

I completely understand that asking for info on people that may still be with us is not appropriate. My eagerness to find all the pieces to a puzzle often takes over...Sorry
Every single reply to my posts has been helpful including those replies telling me what I shouldn't be doing.
I certainly bare no animosity to anyone who has replied to me.
Many thanks to all.
