The William and Elizabeth family are NOT who i am looking for.
1881 census with Charles and Elizabeth is correct.
A Jess Bingham did marry Edith Breddy Dec qtr 1913 East Retford and their children were Margery and Jesse, but i wonder if it was Jess born in 1870 who married Edith.
I do not know about Jess born 1892 now, did I make a mistake ?? Can't get my head round it at the moment, SORRY

You could do with buying Jess and Edith's marriage cert for the age of the groom. That would tell you if he is the 1870 or 1892 version and also his father's name.

Easy to mix up families with same names for children.
I had a similar case with 2 Catherines same age who turned out to be cousins whereas I thought they were the same person.

Nottingham Evening Post 06 July 1923

Jesse Bingham, the eight years old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Bingham, Spital Hil, was bathing in the Idle at Retford last evening, when he was carried away by the current. Though he is stated to have been able to swim, he became entangled in thick weeds and was drowned. An alarm was given by another boy, and the body was recovered and taken to the lad's home.

Thank you Chris Ho, for this extra info, another mystery now as I have the Jesse born in 1915 marrying Beatrice Calvert. Looks like I have a lot of things to take a closer look at before I can continue.

Hi,

Just to add that the Jessie Bingham that married in 1892 was female she married Samuel Fitzwilliam Hannam on 23 Nov 1892 at St Swithin's Church, East Retford.

Also the Jesse born 1892 was the son of William & Elizabeth Bingham christened at St Swithin's Chruch East Retford on 6 Oct 1892 of Canal Row, doesn't say if son or daughter.

Hi Teresa,
I can have a look though East Retford parish records next time I'm in Nottingham archives for you if you like, it would be sometime over the next few weeks not sure when if you don't mind waiting.
They have the original registers for marriages up to 1988, christenings up to 1949 and burials up to 1972.

Wendy, its very kind of you to offer, I will go to our local library and see if they have what i am looking for. I know they have some, but I don't think they come as far forward as the ones at Nottingham, I think they are only up to 1900 or so.
Many thanks again.
Look forward to hearing from you. Teresa :-)
