Trying to go further back from my husbands Grandfather. Her was born in the UK probably Birmingham as we have a photo of him outside a butchers shop....it was their Christmas display, at age 22 ? in 1908. He came to NZ in 1910 and married Alison Galloway.
It is his parents I am searching for. Their names were possibly Wiliam and Ellen Titcombe. Grandad Ernie as he was known to us had a brother Leonard and a sister Elsie. Leonard emigrated to Australia but I don't know anything about Elsie.
If possible I would like to go even further back from William and Ellen.

Hoping someone may have some information about these people.
Many thanks??

His marriage certificate should confirm at least Father's name and occupation?

EDIT - birth and death of possible 4th child removed - not likely

You can use this free site to look for bmd's from Q3 1837 when Registration began to approximately the 1960's at present. It's an on going project which will eventually go to 1984

http://www.freebmd.org.uk

And the 1881 and 1871 census are free on this site, where many baptisms and marriages are also available

If this is the correct William b 1861, then he had a change of occupation by 1891!

Again, his marriage certificate to Ellen, should confirm his (and hers) Father's name/s and occupation

The last census in 1901 shows Ernest as a Fruiterer's help, presumably working for his Father. Who's to say what his job was by the time he emigrated. His marriage certificate will hopefully tell you his father's name/occupation?

HeyJudeB4Beatles

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 22 May 2015 07:41

His NZ enlistment shows him to be Ernest Titcombe, Butcher, Shannon Meat Company, Shannon

According to the tree he emigrated in 1910
