Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Big step to do that. I can't imagine they feel too kindly about Jack.
We scattered his ashes last week so it's just got me thinking about it all again.

I would be inclined to contact the funeral home and ask if they would contact the family on your behalf.

Or perhaps forward a letter.

Yes, it probably is her isn't it. If she had been adopted they would not have included her like that would they? How would they have known she was dead and I imagine her name would have been changed. If her mother didn't remarry until she was an adult she couldn't have used a stepfathers name.
If her name was spelt wrong on the index for a marriage surely her death would have the right name?
I think I'm going round in circles..

Yes you did.........I have just read back and you mentioned that you thought she had died.

Don't know if that's vera's birth. Could be though as Jack was born 1923ish

Natalie

Natalie Report 22 Jun 2015 10:12

Ha, I think that might be the obituary I mentioned earlier. It was a while ago and I couldn't remember what the other surname was. Just that it said she was dead.

Is this Vera ?

Births Mar 1924
Stubbs Vera Graham. Manchester. 8d 382

That's the marriage. He remarried in 1948 to Teresa Noonan in Manchester. Their marriage certificate says he was divorced. My mother Catherine was not born until 1959.

When looking for other Harrison/stubbs births I found one in 1961, Trevor, no father listed but the mother is listed as Vera Harrison formerly Stubbs. Living in the same area. So do not think she had remarried up until then. Maybe Mourveen was adopted.

The original birth registration transcript definitely says Mourveen

PricklyHolly

PricklyHolly Report 21 Jun 2015 23:04

Is this the Stubbs/ Harrison marriage you are referring to.........

??

Marriages Sep 1944 (>99%)
HARRISON Jack Stubbs Manchester 8d 71
STUBBS Vera Harrison Manchester 8d 71

If so...........who, where and when did Jack remarry?

Your mothers name was????

Depending on when Jack remarried..........is it possible that Mourveen was adopted?

What happened to Vera?.......Does it state on Jack's second marriage certificate to ??? that he was a widower?

Is it possible that Jack and Vera divorced...........Vera remarried and Mourveen took on the surname of her step father?

Lots of things for you to consider.

I am signing off on here for the night now............will check back on here tomorrow.

Prickles. :-)

Possibly, hadn't thought of that. Maureen Harrison throws up a lot more options
but no more info to narrow it down.

malyon

malyon Report 21 Jun 2015 22:53

it maybe mourveen on birth certificate but not on her marriage could have been mis spelt

Natalie

Natalie Report 21 Jun 2015 22:49

Thanks, was not expecting people to reply so quickly!

I discovered on my grandparents marriage certificate that my grandfather had been
married before to a Vera Stubbs. His name and profession as well as Vera Stubbs name are all on Mourveens birth certificate. I have looked at the other possible births and I don't think they would be related with dates ect, It definitely looks like Mourveen to me on the birth certificate and not Maureen.

I just seem to have hit a brick wall with going any further forward as to finding out
what happened to her.

Who was your Mother Natalie?

And in what way do you believe that Mourveen was a half sister to you mother?

Sorry if we panicking you by asking too many questions.

Have a think about it and then get back to us.
