Find Ancestors

I am trying to trace my great grandfather John Whittington. My only knowledge of him is his name on my grandfather's (Reuben Arthur Whittington, b. c1878, m. 1902, d. 8th April 1924) wedding certificate. Herein John was said to be a fitter. Other than the Whittington family lived in Birmingham in the late 19th and early 20th century, I have no other knowledge of John. Neither can I trace Reuben Arthur Whittington's birth record.

Can anyone help?

Her father's name was William Hillitt

Eliza Hillitt (daughter of William) was born c.1851 in London. She had a brother George who was born c.1855 in Birmingham

George Hillitt had children named William and Eleanor (which ties in with Reuben's marriage witnesses)

The above was baptised in 1880 - parents Henry and Eliza. So yet to prove if his father was really Henry or John

Had to go out, but can tie these in together now.

Father - Henry Hough - a fitter

Witnesses - Reuben Hough and Fanny Richards (definitely the same signature as Reuben Whittington's wife)

Both have signed with a cross, which would explain why the surnames have been spelled incorrectly.
