Find Ancestors

Hello,

I am trying to trace two children of Mary Ellen Barton (nee Doyle, nee, Bancroft) George Barton 1919 born in Derbyshire, and Mary T Barton born 1920 born in Derbyshire I can find birth certs but nothing else, These would be my GT Aunt and Uncle, not suer if they both made it to adulthood any help would be greatly appreciated

Firstly, they were not born in Derbyshire but in the West Derby area of Lancashire.

Have you located the family on the 1939 register

Mmn is shown as Doyle on the birth records

Where does the Bancroft come is as she married as Doyle

So are these the right parents ?

I don't think that is the right couple Shirley - they are back in Derby again whereas the children were born W. Derby, Lancashire.

I can't find marriage for the parents though we need their full names from broomstick and also where the 'Bancroft' name fits in?

I aged Dea its looked very unlikely these are the right family

We need both parents names to try and find the marriage and the family and the 1939 register

My grandmother was born as Mary Ellen Bancroft 1871 In Derbyshire as I believe
Mary Ellen married Joseph Doyle in 1895 not sure if she divorced him as I have him passing in 1936!! I believe they had five children
Mary Ellen then married Samuel J Barton in 1917 and had the two children
According to my Aunt (whom I discovered on here) that is all they can remember that they came in and around the Derbyshire area
I have Mary Ellen death in 1961
The Ann Woolley that Shirley mentions is Mary Ellen Daughter to Joseph Doyle
This is a very complex family lots of hidden skeletons !!!!

it may be possible to find them in 1939 using their exact dates of birth which will be on their birth certificates.

Do you have the Bancroft / Doyle marriage certificate please?

If this is the couple ( married 14 years) in 1911, the is unlikely that Mary Ellen would be having a child in 1920. Also a tree on Ancestry has her birth c1863.

There are births for Mary T Barton and George Barton at the dates you give:-

...........but I would suggest that these are the possible children of:-

Marriages Jun 1913 (>99%)
Barton William Doyle W. Derby 8b 494
Doyle Teresa Barton W. Derby 8b 494

It could be that the middle name of Mary b.1920 could very well be Teresa same as mother.

This just doesn't work for me...............

I cannot understand why this lady who was born in Derby, married in Derby and died in Derby should have two children when she was almost 50 around 100 miles away in Lancashire ??

I believe that is my grandmother you have on the 1911 census I do have a copy of the marriage certificate
On the birth certificate for George Barton 1919 says Doyle as the mothers maiden name as does Mart T Barton 1920 !!!
As usual this family throws up so many skeletons

I believe that the children whose names you have given may be the children of a different Barton / Doyle couple.

Have you bought the certs of George or Mary ? This would show the parenst names

Can't believe the family I posted is the one on the 1939 register as she would be around 50 when George was born seems a bit late to still be having children especially too that their record show mmn as Doyle not Bancroft
