Find Ancestors

Does anyone have any info regarding Charles Cameron who married Bertha Ella Kelley in Edinburgh 1932. Any descendants are welcome to contact me.
He was my granduncle.

What do you want to know about him?
You know his birth, marriage, and death dates.

If he and Bertha continued living in Scotland, I'm afraid there's no way to find out from Scotlands People website if they had children or not.

The mother's maiden name can't be used as a search term for such recent births, and there are so many Cameron births that it's impossible to know if any of them are relevant.

It's highly unlikely that any descendants will just happen to see your query - BUT see PricklyHolly's post below.


As you've posted on "Find Ancestors" board, I'm assuming you'd like to know about his ancestors?

His birth cert will tell you his parents' names, and when and where they married, which would be a good starting point for further research.

Never said I thought he was Robert! And yes Charles Flood Cameron was married to Bertha Ella Kelley. I have a check on them, and their (my) ancesters before that.
Was just wondering about who their children were.
They stayed at 140 Saughton Road North, Edinburgh - at least until Charles' death in 1953

Sorry folks - just saw that I made him out to be "Robert". Silly me!!

See if Bertha left a will/confirmation, which might name children/grandchildren.

Perhaps the informant on either Charles's or Bertha's death certificate would be one of their children. As has been said, Scotlandspeople birth indexes do not show the mother's maiden surname. Without buying certificates it will be difficult to see which, if any, Cameron births have Charles and Bertha as parents.

Patchem - thanks, but can't find her death certificate (maybe married again?), or her will.

Rootgatherer - thanks. No death certificate to be found for Bertha Ella Cameron nee Kelley. Maybe she emigrated?

That 1998 death is definitely the correct record for Bertha- it's also listed under the surname Kelley.

Her parents were Henry Kelley and Pauline Augusta Ross

Austin Q - You're right, thanks. Just learned today from family in Scotland that she was 99 years old when she died.
Tell me how did you find out - and to know that her parents were Henry Kelley and Pauline Ross?
I could verify that via Charles/Bertha's wedding certificate which I paid for to see .

Using Scotlandspeople, search for a death only inputting Bertha Ella and no surname. Enter years 1998 to 1998. Bertha's death will come up indexed under both her married name and maiden surname. If you look at the reference numbers you will see that they are the same so you know it refers to the same person. The result will also show you her mother's maiden surname is Ross.


There is no birth registered for her in Scotland. A search on the English 1911 census shows her with her parents.
