Name: Mother's Maiden Surname: Order: SMITH, WILLIAM GEORGE - Order GRO Reference: 1871 J Quarter in MUTFORD AND LOTHINGLAND Volume 04A Page 734 The district Mutford spans the boundaries of the counties of Suffolk and Norfolk; The RD covers Blundeston The omission of a Mothers maiden name from this index, usually indicates that no Father was named at the time of registration. Later at marriage he may have "named" a Father to make things look better. Sometimes it can be a Grandfather's name who might have been close/an older brother/ the man his Mother married and that he knew as Father etc

You may well have him placed in 1901, (you say you want to find him pre marriage) but we don't know where, but if this is him, it gives an idea of his occupation to help find him in 1891.
