Abd the family had more bad luck as,Richards wife died in 1889 , aged 21, Martha Ellen , and daughter Martha Ellen a year later. Richard did marry again in 1893 . :-S

And,his,oldest son got married the month after , john william , so Thomas woukd then be the oldest son. Wonder if they stayed on at the farm. Tough for Alice but she still had Richard,and the girls,and young henry at home . :-)

Yes it's very sad , and what a,sad sight for his sons to see. John william and Thomas and Richard maybe , the others woukd hopefully not have gone to the barn. Really sad . :-(

Aw just discovered that Frederick William barker committed suicide . In September 1888. Not sure of details . Might be able to check the paper but think it was in the Manchester one. Can anyone see a date for an inquest for the Burnley express ? That will be easier for me to check . He was living at palace house farm in Burnley at the time . :-S

Can anyone find William Chadwick or Frederick William barker on the 1861 census maybe in cliviger Burnley ? Wonder if he was known as,William then ? Will check for William chadwick. :-)
