So are we thinking elizabeth ferrel(nee) gunton is the same eluzabeth as my wifes great grandmother eluzabeth stirling (nee) gunton. I cant find a marriage between a william stirling and elizabeth gunton or an elizabeth ferrel

ErikaH Report 10 Aug 2018 14:25

There isn't one - at least not in the UK

BTW, this is the only birth I can find which matches the DOB on the 1939 register - unless, of course, he was born in Scotland

Too old. You must take into account the date of the census

And the man's occupation in 1939 was Builder's general labourer. One would expect a skilled tradesman to continue in the trade

Unfortunately, as there doesn't appear to have been a marriage, you have no way of determining who William's father was

Jamie

Jamie Report 10 Aug 2018 14:42

So are we saying its possible that elizabeth left andrew ferrol for william stirling and just took his name and never married him. I found someone on genes reunited who has a william stirling ferrol born 1923 in hexham on their family tree

Jamie

Jamie Report 10 Aug 2018 14:44

Just to add william stirling 1893, on his death certificate he was employed at the B.O.A.C which was an airport in whitchurch bristol doing mechanical work.

Birthplace on the image for the 1891 census for Benjamin and daughter Mary is Yarmouth.

So looks like Ellen's maiden name is Williams
