I do have those census Malyon and I have now found Rebecca on 1881 census in Anchor end which was also known as Cowfairlands with her Grandmother. Still no sign of John Joseph on that census though

rebecca did not have a middle name of sarah

Sorry for the delay in reply I have been a tad busy. That is her death as she was known as Sarah and named as such in the Newspaper report in the Biggleswade Chronicle.

Still not seeing him in 1881. I don't have access to the newspapers but wondered if this article referred to your John? It may not give any more details but might give you an idea of the area he was living?
