Hello, please could you give me an e.mail address where I can get a birth cert. for my gr-grand father who was born in Dublin in 1842. Many thanks

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 5 Jan 2019 23:54

There won't be a birth certificate I'm afraid as civil registration in Ireland didn't start until 1864. The best you can hope to find is a baptism record.

John had a printing busness & his wife Caroline owned Horse stables , the printing came to an end so John became a Cabdriver for his wife's stable. This was in Brighton.

Catherine

Catherine Report 6 Jan 2019 17:42

is the 1851 census the correct family?

Malcolm

Malcolm Report 6 Jan 2019 18:02

Hi Catherine, just been looking at the 1851 census, it could be the wrong family or there is something very wrong with it. I can't understand why JOHN MAY was born in Dublin while twenty four other family members were all born in Brighton.

This is the only female May who died in Brighthelmstone 1848-1851, who's of a feasible age to have been Edward's wife.
A bit old to be having a child, but not impossible.
