What I would really like to know was why were the children put in into care and my fathers opion of his mother so bad. I know the times were hard but it really affected him. Maybe no one can answer that question now. Just the fact that James Alwyn and Lillian bean have so many descendants not living in England. Dawnie

Looks like this newspaper article from the Nottingham Journal 22 October 1937 could be about your family?

What a very sad and unpleasant childhood he must have had - I hope he managed some happiness in later life............

Did he manage to have any later contact with his siblings?

I was born in England and before we left he found his sister and called on her. I know he didn’t see his mum again. What is sad is that we didn’t get to meet her. I would have loved to have heard her side of things. It seems from that newspaper article that she was with and married Mr Walker later in life. Did Dad have a happy life? Well he married my mum and they had 12 children.. he was always looking for something over the next hill. I know he tried to find his brothers. Like him maybe they changed their names as well.
Dawnie.
