I am daft at times..I used to use these sites (their really good to know) But whilst iv'e not been researching for a wee while ive forgotten abt most of them...I am getting back into the swing of things and now I am up and running again

Erika is correct, the censuses are on Family Search (the Mormon site).

You now have to register and set up an account, but it is free, and it seems to be safe ......... I signed up about 2 years ago and have had no apparent problems since then.

Yes, it says Grandson and Grand-daughter.

Stephen - assistant clerk, born Cockfield, Durham.
Agnes - housekeeper, born Forcett, Yorkshire.

Richard was General Manager to the Forcett Limestone Co, and they lived in the Manager's House.

Maddie...That 1891 census..Does it say if Stephen & Agnes are the Grand children to Richard & Sarah or are they actually Richard's and Sarah' Children...Sorry if it sounds a bit of a mouthful

It is much easier than it used to be before they put up that Index.

The only thing to be wary of is when looking at deaths .............

They have not solved the problem of distinguishing between days, weeks, months and years under the age of 12. The death just shows as (for example) 6 ...... so you have to try to work out whether that is your "child" who died at 6 days.

You can determine whether it was years if you look at the entry on Freebmd, because that shows 0 for a child who died under 12 months, then shows the number of years for children over 12 months.

as they did not marry until 1838, you can use the new-ish GRO Index to find births and deaths ............. it has the mmn from 1837 to ca 1918/1919, so you just enter father's surname and mother's surname and get results.

You have to register, but it is a free site.

Just follow the instructions for GRO Index
