Well that’s great folks!
Thank you
The Alien Resident card didn’t have any info, so going to try the others.
Yes Chris thanks again for your input.
Hopefully it will bring up Rose’s parents so that might be a possible lead to keep the trail going
You’ve been brilliant. :-D

Sorry, Chris, I missed that, trying to do too many things at the same time.
:-)
Every route is worth trying especially if it's free, so I'd probably go for that first to see what info it gives.

(was below from earlier AG, thought perhaps might be a Notice of Birth?)...

(looking again, might just be Marriage perhaps!)

I don't see anything about 1903 on any of the links you provided, Chris, apart from her date of birth.

Am I missing something?

Still wondering about that 1903 Methodist reference...

Below link gives details on a look up service...(did post earlier)

You could try contacting the service responsible for BMD records to see if it is possible to buy a copy of Rose's birth certificate:-

Thanks ArgyllGran,
I think it would be worth getting a copy of both documents, there may also be info on the Alien Registration Card that could be helpful.

ArgyllGran Report 29 Sep 2019 12:34

Good find, Catherine!

I think it says:

Married on March 27th 19(??) at St Martin's Methodist Church , by Rev F [ R ?] Bulloch [?] [something something] Charles Alfred, son of Mr and Mrs T E Carrel, Anneville Farm, St Martin, to Rose Genevieve, daughter of Mr and Mrs J L [?] Beguin, Neuchatel, Swizerland.

I think the year is 1924.

She was certainly still unmarried as at 6 Oct 1923, the date of her alien registration, as already posted.

I've been looking for a marriage record, but no luck so far, sorry.

If you go to this site:-

https://catalogue.jerseyheritage.org/collection/Details/archive/110172865

you can buy a copy of Rose's Aliens registration card . It will cost £5.00 but it will give you her photo and it may give you the date of when she arrived in Jersey.

Aliens Restrictions Act. On 17th February 1920 the States of Jersey enacted the principles of the 1914 English Aliens Restrictions Act. Under the law all aliens over the age of sixteen resident in Jersey has to register with the Immigration Officer. Every alien in the Island had to register, no matter how old they were or how long they had been living in Jersey.

......................................

you can also check this out, from the same web site:-

https://catalogue.jerseyheritage.org/collection/Details/archive/110279139

I've had a look at the distorted copy and I think it is her marriage. I can make out Married on and the date of March 27th and the name Charles Alfred son of

and a few other bits but best make a request to see it properly.

Thanks Chris and Catherine. I am trying to find the marriage certificate for Charles and Rose as it may mention Rose’s parents. They both spoke French as Charles was a native of Jersey.
The Carrel family line has been fairly easy to find through Jersey Records, but it’s the Beguin line that’s hard to find. I have nothing on Rose’s family at all.
Thanks for all your efforts to date though.
Any other ideas?

As it refers to a publication 1903, might be a notice, Birth/Baptism...if you're trying to find names of her Parents...

No I tried Family Search, Argyll Gran, and didn’t find her either.
Thanks Chris I’m pursuing that line, but really it’s the time before she came to Jersey and married, and her parents and siblings I’m trying to trace.
Of course much was disrupted and destroyed by the war so it may not be possible to find her parents.
There are lots of Beguins in Neuchatel but I can’t find a link to Rose Genevieve amongst them
I know you’re all much better at finding things than me, as you’ve already proved, so that’s why I’m asking for your help.
:-)

That’s helpful too Chris. Thanks.
I think the Carroll lead isn’t any connection. Thank you anyway.

Apparently Rose Genevieve and Charles Carrel went to Canada to emigrate, but she was kicked by a horse which lead to gangrene and they returned to Jersey for treatment and stayed there.

I wonder if you have any ideas how I could trace Rose Genevieve and her family in Switzerland before she moved to Jersey?

However, I don't see her birth on FamilySearch.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 28 Sep 2019 10:26

Edwin Walter Carroll's wife Genevieve is NOT your Rose.

A tree on Ancestry shows the image of his 1941 marriage cert.
As Gwyn has said, Edwin's wife's maiden surname was Rose.

She was Genevieve Lewis Rose, father William L Rose, birthplace Madison county.

That sounds like her. Brilliant!
So does that mean she visited Canada, in which case Edwin is some relation?
Thanks Catherine and Gwyn
