Deborah Report 23 Nov 2019 11:07

I am trying to find the burial record for Jemima Jackson. She was born 1785/6 and died June 1858.

The GRO reference number for her death is volume 6D, page 295.
District Warwick, County Warwickshire.

Have looked on Ancestry, and FMP

I found her on FMP in what looks like a hand written summary book, but it just gives her name, the district and the GRO reference number.

I found her husband (Thomas Jackson 1791 to 1864) in Warwickshire, England, Church of England Burials 1813 to 1910. The entry for Thomas looks more like the church register, and gives a little bit more information.

I would be really grateful if you could have a look for me to see if her death is recorded in some sort of church/parish register.

Please don't spend too much time on this, because if she is not there I will order a PDF of the death certificate. I don't need any other information as I have most of it.

Thank you in advance.

She was married in Offchurch, Warwickshire, and was living there in 1841.

Chances are, she was still there when she died.

Maybe contact the church there?

[EDIT: I see GG has found the record.}

Re Thomas - the death you mention was in Kenilworth, and his abode was Doritend.

I'm not sure that's the right Thomas. Your Thomas (Jemima's husband ) was an agricultural labourer in 1841.

This looks like that one (the one who died in 1864) in 1851

I do admit, I can't see any other likely death for Jemima's Thomas, so far.

Deborah

Yes, that is the record I was looking at for Thomas.

Deritend and Kenilworth are about 18 miles apart. So I thought is was feasable.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 23 Nov 2019 12:09

Deritend and Offchurch are about 26 miles apart - if that's relevant to anything!

Deborah

Deborah Report 23 Nov 2019 12:12

Maybe not then !!! a long way to be taken to be buried, but maybe depends on where he died.

Thank you for all the extra information, much appreciated.

Possible death of Thomas:

JACKSON, THOMAS 54
GRO Reference: 1841 S Quarter in WARWICK UNION Volume 16 Page 345

Ages in 1841 census are often inaccurate - rounded down within 5 years.

Deborah

Deborah Report 23 Nov 2019 12:58

You are definitely on the right track, the name of Alcock fits in.

On the 1851 and 1861 census's Thomas is down as unmarried, unless I am reading it wrong. I did notice though that his occupation in the 1851 census is a Japanner. I looked it up and it is quite a skilled job. Lacquering of Asian artworks etc.

Right, so he obviously died later than I thought then. I hadn't researched him properly yet, because it is Jemima that is the blood relative. So started with her first. I didn't expect to get all this, I really am very grateful to you all.
