Hi.
I was also thinking that people would maybe have started moving their children out of big cities and perhaos in the 1939 census Audrey may have been sent to live with her grandparents in Nelson perhaps?

Audrey and Peggy, both mms Berry, born in Rochdale in the years you specify.

I don't see either of them in 1939.

Do you know they are deceased?

Shirley

Shirley Report 27 Aug 2020 15:40

No I don't think so as Audrey was living with her parents reynold and ada in Liverpool in 1945. So I am now thinking the children may have been living with either adas family surnamed Berry or one of Reynolds family surname Stott.
They could possibly be living in Nelson Lancashire as that is where they both were originally from.
Reynold had sisters minerva who married a Dyson and ethel who married a horsfall. Also a Jane who married a hird. So perhaos the children stayed with family back in Nelson to avoid the war in the city?
:-(

Shirley Report 27 Aug 2020 15:49

I have just posted wrong info. Minerva and the others were Reynolds father Arthur's other children.
Reynold had a brother Lewis stott born in 1895. Perhaps the girls were living with him and his wife? :-(

Can anyone check where minerva Dyson born 1874 was living in 1939. Her husband was rennie Dyson born in Colne and he died in once in 1953but minerva died in Blackpool in 1943.

Harri's DOB on 1939 Register originally written as 9 June 19905, then "corrected" to 18 June 1901.
He was actually born 1905:

Thanks for that info on Lewis. There have been three Lewis stotts in the family.
So still no idea where Audrey and maybe Peggy disappeared to. Could be anywhere I guess, evacuees perhaps. I'm trying to a certain wether the Audrey stott who married Robert nuttall in 1952 may be the same person. There is an Audrey stott who married in Rochdale in the same year however.

Shirley Report 27 Aug 2020 17:15

Well Lewis, s brother reynold, father of Audrey, was a ships electrician and lived in Liverpool in the 1940,s.
Perhaos they joined up together. :-)

Re the possible marriages for Audrey -
you'd have to buy the marriage cert to see her father's name.

Another Audrey Stott married in Rochdale in 1958.

ADDED:

She's not the one who married Brian Ashworth. That one's with her parents David and Hilda in 1939.
