As he died in 1907, he can't be on the census in 1911

Deborah Report 6 Jul 2021 10:31

Which bit is wrong ErikaH, several of my cousins including myself have all that information in our trees, I thought we had researched it all properly, we have been doing it together.

John Hanley White is my 1st cousin, 3 times removed. He died in an asylum in 1907.

Just trying to find out if he ever married, for completeness only really, have been working on the "White" ancestors for a few years.

Also living with her are Annie and Reginald Toby.

They're all still at the same address in 1933.

In 1939 there are two closed records with Annie & Reginald at 18 Saxonia Road. I assume Eleanor isn't one of them, as her death should have been picked up by now.

She didn't necessarily leave her money to her sister.

Her sister was granted probate, so that she could administer the estate.
You'd have to see the Will to see who was left what.

You can order a copy here:

https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/Calendar?surname=white&yearOfDeath=1947&page=6#calendar

However, my feeling is that she didn't have any children.

Deborah

Deborah Report 5 Jul 2021 21:19

As she left her money to her sister, this could indicate that she did in fact have no children of her own.

Deborah

Deborah Report 5 Jul 2021 21:12

Ok AG, thank you, not the right family then, I appreciate you looking for me, I think if I do have the correct marriage for John Hanley White and Eleanor, they didn't have any children. Irrelevant, but John died in a lunatic asylum.

The White/Davies boys you found born in the West Derby area were some of the children of Alexander White and Fanny / Frances Davies, who married in Liverpool in 1898, and were living in Wavertree in 1901, and at 20 Sandon Street, Liverpool in 1911.

Deborah

Deborah Report 5 Jul 2021 18:48

I did look for births White/Bower 1902 to 1908, found none. I found 4 boys White/Davies from 1902 to 1908 in the West derby area.

Is there any reason why I cant find the marriage banns.

Just looked at 1911 - Thomas George Speed is recorded with wife Louisa and five children, of whom the eldest is 7 years of age
