They look to be very nice houses. Worth more th n a million now. Three storys, victorian. I wonder if she was renting a room in there as she only had a job as a clerk.

Record information.
Name
Barrie Lionel Hargreaves
Residence
1978 Tamaki Auckland

Barrie was in NZ by 1978......

the two surname in Kesington were Needham and Kent both appear to be men. probally a lodging house?...no sign of Moira at that time......I dont think it would be quite so quick to get a divorce in the 1960s unless someone had the money to pay the expense..

the adoption couldnt have taken place 1958 as the child wasnt born then,

Shirley

Shirley Report 17 Sep 2020 18:42

The witnesses were k Hargreaves which I presume was barrie, s restive and Leslie emilius clough. At least, it looks like Clough. Ends In ough and two letters before it which look like a c and a squirly L.
Barrie had a burnley address, his parents home probably and it was moira who gave the London address of 268 Queensbridge Road dalston London. :-)

Shirley

Shirley Report 17 Sep 2020 18:45

Leslie emilius clough was born in Burnley in 1931 and died there in 1990. Is Leslie a male or female I wonder. ie is usually a man
They got married in the registry office it says :-)

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 17 Sep 2020 23:08

Leslie was a man.
He married (a woman !) in Burnley in 1958.

I think the full facts from the adoption file is needed to further the adoptees search,,,,as if Mr Hargreaves was the natural father and married to the mother his signed consent was needed for the adoption to be put forward...as scant details from a birth certificate or handed down information may not be of help.

The adoptee can make an application for access.

Leslie and parents lived in the same road as Bertha.Harold and Barrie in 1939 ,so looks to be related.to as how he was witness,

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 18 Sep 2020 10:27

Leslie's not necessarily related - could just be a family friend, as the two families had been neighbours.
