Hi There,

I’m looking for any information on my x5 Great Grandfather Captain Kellock.

This is written on the back of a photo size painting I found recently:

Captain Kellock - Master of the Clyde

The painting was probably done around the early 1800’s as the outfit is of that time period.

I’ve tried googling him but have not been successful

Any information greatly appreciated

Many Thanks

C Williams

EDIT - posts by Malyon and myself now look totally out of context as much of what Caroline put in her OP has been removed - presume after her initial thanks for info provided and before the start of the following days finds. It gave names of those that I researched, to try to get back to a "Captain Kellock"

For info - trying to trace the family back

From an Ancestry tree -

Adelaide Rachel Jepps from tree Williams family tree

Birth 1833
Marriage 29/01/1853 Hanover Jamaica
Death 1892
Record information.
Father Samuel Jepps (1785-1840)
Mother Isabella Kellock (1802-1867)
Spouse Francis Joseph Schilling (1829-1907)

Samuel Jepps 1785-1840 married Isabella Kellock 25 FEb 1829 St Mary's Church, Newington

No info re Isabella's parentage

another tree shows the marriage OPR of Samual Jepps a widower and Isabella Kellock a spinster who both signed

only other info is the names of the witnesses - William Williams and Mary ? Biss

So possibly Captain Kellock is Great Grandfather of Eleanor Schilling

Not finding anything further back

But no mention of the Clyde.
I assume it's a ship called "Clyde", and that Captain Kellock had nothing to do with the river?

Charlotte has removed much of the information she initially gave in her opening post yesterday Captain Kellock was Grandfather to her Gt or GtGt Grandmother Eleanor Maud Adelaide Schilling (b 1870) if I remember rightly. Other family names were also mentioned.

That info. led me to chase the family that she had listed back until I came across Isabella Kellock born c 1802.

If the info. given initially was correct and led to Isabella born London as the first mention of a Kellock then it looks unlikely to be the same family as researched today??? Unless not a several times removed Grandfather but Gt x whatever uncle if born c1799??

Neither Malyon or I picked the names we researched out of thin air, but that is what it now looks like.

Perhaps that initial info. could be reposted Charlotte??
