Morning, thanks very much Argyll. I think you are probably right him changing his name to Joseph and using his wife's maiden name, Evans. I suspect it was to keep one step ahead of the law bearing in mind his earlier imprisonment. As for Sarah Ann's marriage, I was confusing it with Addison/Joseph sister Sarah Ann who was born 1839. I had seen a Joseph on the census returns but disregarded it straight away and of course Betsy = Elizabeth. I can now press on further. Take care.

I still can't see his baptism, however!

Just got in and seen the above. Thank you. I wouldn't have found the 1891 census entry with those spellings.

Hello again. The following is from Greyghost post above:

MINCHER, MARGARET ELIZABETH EVANS - NO - her Bap. on freereg, parents Harrison and Elizabeth
GRO Reference: 1862 D Quarter in WOLVERHAMPTON Volume 06B Page 398

I think Addison may have been mistranscribed as Harrison. There is a burial for Margaret Elizabeth at Merridale Cemetery, Wolverhampton on 7 June 1865. Could someone take a look at the burial to see if father is Harrison, Addison or Joseph. Thanks.

Thanks safc. Honeymoon baby! Addison snr was baptised at Holy Cross, Bobbington. Illegitimate son of Margaret. The variations on Mincher are a real hindrance.
