in 1861 Elizabeth is a Needlewoman, in 1881 a Seamstress so other census which are possible are only that, And can't find her parents.

Yes to Newport about 1812 but absolutely no record of birth ancestry, Freereg, FSO, waiting on Isle of Wight fhs to let me in!

There is a Charles Ward, shipwright of Spring Street who dies aged 43 on the 11th Nov 1860. Did you say your Charles died in 1849?
