You've just beaten me too it with the 1861 Census, ArgyllG

The William Chubb on the transcript is 'Son's Wife' which is, I believe, looking at the image, Maillim. Maillim being the wife of the Richard Chubb on Roy's other Thread.

A couple of Articles relating to John Chubb which could be the person you are looking for?

Article in the Tavistock Express, 15 May 1863
FATAL ACCIDENT IN DEVONPORT DOCKYARD

A fatal accident took place in Devonport Dockyard , on Monday afternoon, whereby Mr John Chubb, leading-man of labourers, was crushed to death and two labourers badly injured. The accident took place as one of the piles of balks of timber stacked near the millwright's shop. At about three o'clock a gang of labourers were there employed, under Mr Chubb's superintendence, in lowering some of the balks of enormous weight, that was the outer balk in front of the pile, on the uppermost layer. Their plan appears to have been to pass the bights of rope round th balk to be lowered, while the standing part of these ropes was secured to the last balk on the inner side on the same tier, and other ends of the ropes used by the men to lower by. The descending balk being thus allowed to roll over in its descent. The inner balk to which the ropes were secured was, it appears, a very light one in comparison with the one being lowered, and directly the weight of the latter was brought to bear on the ropes on its slipping off the edge of the pile, the inner balk was torn out from its place in the tier, and along with the heavier balk thrown on the pavement with fearful violence. Mr Chubb was standing on the pile at the time, and was swept off by the started balk. He fell on his face on the granite pavement, and in that position the balk fell on his head and upper part of his body, crushing him flat, and causing him instantaneous death. Two of the labourers were also badly injured by the accident, but in the confusion of the moment the cause was hardly known. Some upright pieces of timber are said to haven been placed between the balk to guard against such an accident, but on the balk starting they proved totally ineffective, being instantly broken and swept off. Mr Chubb was, it is said, about 50 years of age; he had been employed in his department in the Dockyard for many years, and was considered to be one of the most efficient persons there for managing this kind of work. He leaves a widow and a large family, among whom is a widowed daughter, dependent upon him. As some alleviation to their misfortune, it is, however, expected that the widow will receive one half of the pension the deceased would have been entitled to. The body was taken to the engine-room, near the surgery, to await a coroner's inquest.

(Another later article states that John Chubb's widow was awarded £10 per annum pension)

The following article was in The Western Daily Mercury on 13 May 1863

FATAL ACCIDENT AT THE DEVONPORT DOCKYARD

An Inquest was held at the Town Hall, Devonport, yesterday afternoon, before Allan R Bone, Esq., coroner touching the death of John Chubb, who was killed at the Dockyard on Monday afternoon. under the following circumstances:-A gang of labourers, acting under the superintendence of the deceased, were employed on a pile of balks of timber. They were endeavouring to lower a very large balk which was tied by roe, four men being on the top of the pile for that purpose. In order to have sufficient control over the piece of timber, which was two tons in weight, the other ends of the rope were tied round another piece of timber on the top of the pile;but that piece not being much more that half the weight of piece being lowered, the larger piece dragged the smaller one after it. Mr Chubb, who was standing on the pile, was thrown violently to the ground, and, the plank falling on his head and body, he was killed instantly. Two other men, who were also standing on the pile, were more or less injured. After hearing the evidence, the jury returned a verdict of Accidental Death.
During the examination of one of the witnesses, a juryman fell asleep, and was apparently unconcerned to all that was going on around him.
The Coroner said he was very sorry to disturb him in his nap, but his reason for so doing was tat he (the juryman) had taken an oath to give a true verdict to the case before him, and it was impossible for him to give the requisite amount of attention while he was asleep. He (the Coroner) also reminded him that he was liable to a very heavy penalty, and then discharged him from the jury.
Yesterday afternoon the deceased man, Chubb, was carried to his late residence, Navy Row, by a number of men who have been accustomed to work with him. The coffin, which was made in the Yard, was covered with a Union Jack. The melancholy accident has cast a gloom over the Yard, in which the deceased was greatly respected.

Hi Erikah, I am totally confused about the possible second marriage of Richard to Anne. The time would be correct but this is the first I have heard about it and I am a little wary about documenting this marriage until I have more concreate proof

I'm just wondering if the Father of John and Richard are the same person.
Now I haven't checked this out but if Jane Chubb nee Dadd the mother of John Chubb died in 1813 as per the Tree that Maddie has found on Ancestry could Richard Chubb have remarried?
There is a marriage for Richard Chubb to Ann Coss on 11 Jul 1816 at East Stonehouse sadly there is only the transcript so not much information.
If the above is correct
Richard Chubb and his first wife Jane Dadd are the parents of John
and
Richard Chubb and his second wife Ann Coss are the parents of Richard

So that would make John & Richard half brothers
