That’s an interesting find.

A fascinating website!

However, none of the men hanged in 1888 had murdered a burglar.
The nearest was the elderly Samuel Crowther who murdered someone stealing fruit from his trees.

The name Cyster doesn't appear anywhere on that site - not 1888 nor any other year.

i was told that she lost two sets of twins and a boy when she was married to Alfred Harverson. After he died she remarried Christopher Cyster and had a daughter, that daughter was my mums, mother.

I wonder if my mum was told the wrong date, she was told the story of the murder by an old lady who knew the Cysters well. Maybe its got a bit mixed jup over the years.
Thanks for looking that up, I think my mum would rather it was a mistake, she was upset to hear it.

You can check for births and deaths quite easily to verify the stories about lost babies - or not, as the case may be.

And you should also look at the site to which I gave the link………if only to satisfy yourself.

At the 1900 marriage of Christopher Cyster and Ellen Harverson, she's a widow, but gives her father's name as John Essex Harverson.

But -
In 1901 (census posted earlier) she's listed as Harverson, widow - not Cyster -
and Christopher's apparently living in the same household, listed as single.
He didn't die until 1953.

This will be her birth:

ESSEX, ELLEN SUSAN mmn MASON
GRO Reference: 1859 M Quarter in NEWINGTON Volume 01D Page 193

Ellen Essex
in the London, England, Church of England Marriages and Banns, 1754-1938

Record Type: Marriage
Birth Date: abt 1857
Marriage Date: 4 Sep 1878
Marriage Place: St Mary, Lambeth, Lambeth, England
Father: John Essex
Spouse: Alfred Haverson
Register Type: Parish Register

Alfred died 1896.

Children of that marriage:

HARVERSON, ELLEN ELIZABETH mmn ESSEX
GRO Reference: 1879 D Quarter in SAINT SAVIOUR SURREY Volume 01D Page 95

HARVERSON, ALBERT DANIEL mmn ESSEX

HARVERSON, EDITH MABEL mmn ESSEX
GRO Reference: 1893 M Quarter in ST SAVIOUR LONDON Volume 01D Page 90

No twins - but a son's death:

Deaths Mar 1892   (>99%)
Harverson  Harold Apelles  1  St. Saviour  1d 17

Maybe the twins were miscarriages rather than births.

Then the birth of your grandmother, with mmn given as Harverson, rather than Essex:

CYSTER, LOUISA CHRISTINA mmn HARVERSON
