I'm afraid you don't....................unless you can find posts on the message boards and check their status there.

But, be patient, it's hardly any time since you sent the message

So you don't plan on contacting the GR members who are connected?

Florence61

Florence61 Report 2 May 2023 12:58

Ty Erika & AG for that info and it sounds possible except if they married in 1778, strange how their 1st child Martha was't born until 1795?

Well thankyou for looking and all your help.

Its my friends tree, so I shall be in contact with her and try to see if any other family members can shed some light.
It has taken me 6 months to do this tree for her as it was so huge.

But as I said, if I cant find Elizabeth's birth/marriage, nevermind.

Florence in the hebrides

I suppose Moully could be Moreland mis-heard and spelled as the clerk thought it sounded.

Then Morfy could be a guesswork transcription of badly-handwritten Moully.

A tree on Ancestry claims that Benjamin Flatman & Mary Filby's son Edward married an Elizabeth MORFY in Wortham on 11 Oct 1778.

Apparently that marriage is on FMP.

However, the tree also claims that Martha and Thomas are the children of that couple, in spite of their baptisms clearly giving Elizabeth's name as Moreland - so maybe not a trustworthy tree.

There is also an Edward Flatman b 1777-ish, with parents Benjamin and Martha(note)

Why wont it let me c & P from family.search?

The 1st son Thomas Flatman's christening

Elizabeth Moreland Flatman spouses & children
Thomas Flatman
Father
Edward-
Mother- Elizabeth Moreland Flatman
Christening
6 may 1798
Wotham Suffolk

Well I have gone back further. Edwards parents were
Benjamin Flatman
b 1736
d 1826
M. 1753
Mary Filbey
b. 1736 Norwich
d.?

So as they got married in 1753, it is acceptable to think he was born in 1755 2 years after. It does seem that Edward was quite old when he married at 40

With that in mind, I think Elizabeth must have been younger than him as unlikely she had her 1st child say at 40 but hey ho, that's just logic and not fact!

At least one GR member has most of these names in a GR tree - others have some of them. Try making contact

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 2 May 2023 11:53

I realise that the father's name is Edward, but I wondered whether he might not have been born as early as 1755...........

There is NO record of a marriage on any site that I can find...............
The father's name on a baptism record doesn't prove that a marriage took place, although one might assume that it had

This death can be eliminated

Finding the marriage date will just complete some detail, if I cant establish it, it doesn't matter too much.

The wedding was listed on Family.search.org
It lists 3 christenings with both the parents names. So he is def the father.

There are many Elizabeth Flatmans so Its quite difficult to establish when she died.

Yes sorry Suffolk it is, some Flatmans were from Norfolk too, huge family.
