Not sure what OP is asking for...................unless he thinks his OH's grandfather sired several illegitimate children. The man being sought could just as easily have been one of the married brothers.. In many cases, men who don't marry have no interest in women..............

Just trying to rationalise.........................thinking 'out loud', as it were.

We are writing to descendants of the married ones but, as ErihaH says, for the unmarried ones we need to dip into famly rumours.

Good luck, Brian, I hope you get a response.

Erika - maybe you shouldn’t have thought out loud. I think your comment that men who don’t marry have no interest in women, offensive.

I CLEARLY said, ‘in many cases’ so why are you jumping on me- or is that simply out of habit?

I have just switched machines ( I pad power cut out )to change that to inappropriate.

It deosn't matter who made the comment my reaction would have been the same.

Our researcher has managed to get a response from a descendent one of the married ones of the four who has taken a test which rules out her line and reduces the candidates to three.
A trawl of descendents of George, the other married one with children, has got a response so she was sent a test just before Christmas which, if she sent it off, will take a few weeks to get a result back which will either confirm that line or narrow the answer down to the two unmarried brothers.
So, the waiting game begins.
I do hope that George proves positive so we get a final answer.
