I have David Wallace married to Catherine Hay in 1814 in Crail, Fife, Scotland. In a family book David and Catherine had daughters Janet Jessie b 1833 and Catherine b 1841. A daughter to Catherine (1841) is Catherine Thomson who went on to marry George Dickson (this is correct). There seems to be19 years between the marriage of David and Catherine Hay and their first born so this doesn't seem right to me. |

If that's her, she has called herself a widow to save face. She wasn't married. |

Thanks for all this. I'm just trying to digest it all but it looks like there definitely was another Catherine between Catherine Hay and Catherine Thomson, and that certainly makes more sense. Since starting this post I did find the one born 1820 but couldn't make a proper connection. I did search all the sites I mentioned but you all seem to be far more successful than me. Probably down to me being a bit technologically impaired!!! |

It would appear that the book is not an old one with contemporaneous facts, but one compiled much more recently, and therefore less likely to be fully accurate |
