Hi Debs,
Are you able to look up the marriage of George Gathercole (b. 1833) and Mary-Ann Freeman (b. 1834) please? I have details of all their children and the family from thereon, but I've struck a brick wall at them. They lived in Cambridge, Cambs, UK and their first child, Maria was born 1855, so I guess they were married a year or two prior. I would like to know who George's parents were so that I can research the family further. I've always had people commenting on what an unusual name Gathercole is, so I thought it would be easy to research, but it's not!

Your help would be much appreciated as I live in New Zealand and cannot therefore view anything first hand.

Thank you.

Emma

Debs - Could I ask another favour please? From the 1851 census it looks as if Thomas Mitchell is a widower with Agnes Miller 'acting as his housekeeper'. He has a 14 year old son, John, so he would have been married to Georgina's mother in 1841. Would be able to look at the 1841 census as well please to try to find out her name? Thanks everso much, Sue
