Hiya Kath, If you have seen our previous reply you will see how dumb we are!! looking for children born to Isaac W Venn and Annie Blackburn between 1902-onwards :S we know they had a son in 1903 (William who died) and another in 1905 (Joseph) and they lived in Willington Co.Durham.We thought with it showing the maiden name it would be easier. Perhaps we are missing something though...thanks alison

KathleenBell Report 29 Oct 2006 23:15

The birth index only shows the mother's maiden name after 1911. Do you think they had children after this date? Kath. x

Name: Joseph Venn Year of Registration: 1905 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Durham (1837-1938) County: Durham Volume: 10a Page: 436 Found on FreeBMD, but have to check on full index to confirm.

we assume so...but we have a family who apparently never spoken to each other no one knows anything!! we have found lots of info via different sites and know after 1901 its more difficult but since everyone else had 100's of kids we assume they had more than 1 !!! perhaps we are wrong! thanks alison

If you go to this page on Ancestry:- http://www.ancestry(.)co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx remove the brackets first the page has three boxes. The first is the one you want entitled 'Complete BMD Indexes ranges & Images 1837 to 1983' Kath. x

Here are some Venn's registered in Durham, but before 1911 when mother's maiden name is added to the index, there's no way of knowing if they belong to your couple:- Name: Arthur Venn Year of Registration: 1908 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Durham (1837-1938) County: Durham Volume: 10a Page: 474 and Name: Charlotte Venn Year of Registration: 1907 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Durham (1837-1938) County: Durham Volume: 10a Page: 436 and Name: Edward Walker Venn Year of Registration: 1905 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep District: Durham (1837-1938) County: Durham Volume: 10a Page: 425 and Name: Harriet Venn Year of Registration: 1910 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar District: Durham (1837-1938) County: Durham Volume: 10a Page: 436 and Name: Joseph Venn Year of Registration: 1905 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Durham (1837-1938) County: Durham Volume: 10a Page: 436 and Name: Thomas Venn Year of Registration: 1903 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep District: Durham (1837-1938) County: Durham Volume: 10a Page: 446 and Name: William Venn Year of Registration: 1903 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Durham (1837-1938) County: Durham Volume: 10a Page: 411 Kath. x

thanks for that info..we are going to take a trip to Durham Library..it will be a day out..and perhaps something will become clearer!! cos at the moment its all like mud! thanks for your help.alison

You are right Alison. Ronald doesn't show up. If you have his birth certificate, then he must be one of the few who gets missed off the records sent to the GRO. The birth certificate you have must have come from the relevent register office rather than the GRO. Kath. x
