Hi Lou (Louise in London) Have you looked for these births, marriage and deaths on 1837 online. If not, that would be the best place to start. Freebmd is available up to about 1911. The information you would get from the certificates would fill in at least some of the gaps for you. Joan

Hi Joan If you could fit it in, could you look for a marriage for me please, James Gairns married Alice Masser, 6 November 1803 at St George the Martyr, Southwark Surrey, I was really looking for any witnesses that may have been there. Many many thanks Belle.

Hi Joan, wonder if you could look for a baptism record of my grandfather STANLEY BELL b. 13/04/1914 at Queen Charlottes Hospital which at that time was in St. Marylebone. The LMA hold the records for baptisms solemnised at Queen Charlottes 1881 - 1927 which form part of the parish records of St Marks Church. Old Marylebone Road, they suggested i look there. They have already checked Saint Stephens church in Cannonbury and St Marys the ancient parish church in Islington. They also suggested checking the only other church in Canonbury which is St. Pauls and i wondered if you could do this, maybe between April 1914 - April 1916. His mother was Helena Rebecca Bell (unmarried) i am hoping that maybe a fathers name might be on the baptism certificate. Thank you so much Kate x

Hi Christine Just a thought, have you asked Pippa Winter if she would do a lookup in the 1861 index for you. Joan

Joan Palmer Report 7 Feb 2005 22:59

Hi Chris I don’t think I can be of much use to you at the moment, there’s no general name index for the records at the LMA. Perhaps someone has an index to the 1861 census for Middlesex, it might be worth asking. Joan

*Lancashire Lou* Sorry Lou, I checked 6 churches and didn’t find the marriage. I’m not happy though so I’ll re-check next time, if you haven’t already given up and got the cert. Joan x

*UmmmMurray Mints Mewse* Sorry Grace, the school reference wasn’t an LMA one and I couldn’t find a St.Mary’s Infant school in their listings. You gave me the ref for Emmanuel baptisms but I forgot to ask which years you wanted me to search. If you can let me know, then I’ll do that next time. Joan x
