I found their marriage- have you got that info/certificate?
That would give you parents names and occupations, then you could probably find some census information.
married Oct qtr 1912 Liverpool, Lancs
vol 8b page 837

Do you kinow how to send for a certificate as that would give you more information and places to work on?

Sheila Report 11 Nov 2007 12:25

There are loads of William Houghtons registered for Prescot
The only one I can find married to Ann is

Oct qtr 1870 Prescot
vol 8b page 868

There are also many Ann Houghton deaths registered for Prescot

The nearest are
b. 1846 died 1870
b. 1848 died 1886
b. 1840 died 1894
b. 1846 died 1896
do you want me to investigate any of these?

Elizabeth Report 11 Nov 2007 12:51

Hi Sheila
I have been having problems with this William.
In 1871 Nov he married Elizabeth Waine but didn't give his father's name on the marriage certificate.
Think this could be Peter Houghton married to Esther.
In the 1871 census he is no longer living with his parents Elizabeth is still living with hers
I am trying to find out what happened to him.Ivy very kindly did a look up for me and found 2 one as a lodger born St Helens and 1 married to Ann who was 29. So am thinking did she die but he would have very quickly married Elizabeth.
Of course neither of these may be the same William as mine!?
Have to go out now till tonight
If you can help I would be gratefull
Many thanks

Hi Shiela
I am trying to find out more about a Townsend family in case they tie in with mine.

Ages 38, 16, 13, 10, 6, 4, and 1, respectively. Would like any other info you can find on them. William the son might end up in the United States but not sure.

Hi Sheila
Am back now sorry if I have confused you
can you look in 1881 census and see if you can see William Houghton married to Ann.
He would be around 32 she would be around 39.He was born in Whiston lancashire and I think they resided in Prescot.Am hoping you won't find them.

Elizabeth Report 11 Nov 2007 16:18

Hi Sheila
Don't worry about my request I have ruled out William married to Ann being my ancestor.

Many thanks anyway

Stella Report 11 Nov 2007 16:46

Hi Sheila
I'm back, I keep drawing a blank with several branches of my family. Wonder if you could help me again! I have a Fred Lacey who was born in 1872, Romsley. I think his parents were George (1848) and Hannah Lacey (1851). I have found a George Lacey in the 1861 census who was a servant along with a John Lacey, even if this is the right George I can find no trace of him before that. Would you mind using your expertise and seeing if you could find him?

Sheila Report 11 Nov 2007 18:07
