I thought the same as you about the Oxford connection though.
I'm still drawn towards the Adare, Limerick connection somehow.

Doing some sums on your info and the 'Indus' is one of the ships Charles Henry (my g/father) served on.
Could this indeed be my ancestors born in Oxford ??

Just to add to the confusion: Charles Henry was also in the Navy but I have all his records. He changed his birth date to sign on as a 'boy' as a 12 year old.
