After being on the receiving end of the abuse last week I will certainly be adopting a less tolerant approach to workie tickets.

If I get abuse again I will most certainly report the post and, most importantly, I will post on the thread saying what I have done and why (as did Irene last week).

I think it's very important to make public that you've reported so other researchers know what's going on.

I've been wondering. Would it be fair to post a message asking the person to moderate their attitude please or we will RR them for the reasons we all agree on?
We already know of course that some recent posters will not recognise what we say and it will be like light the blue touchpaper and stand back but if we give them a chance, at least we will be seen as trying to be fair, especially with the newer ones. :-|

I wish we could just report the the poster rather than the abusive post.

There is another one which some may remember who changed her name like her underwear :-D I was often abused by her but would never report her posts as I prefer others to see what she was like...

Hi Carol

I agree with you. I am new to all this and i am grateful for all you members out there who can help me get further with my tree. Reading the info you all find and to say thank you is not hard to do.

Can't remember her name Jax but I remember some of her postings.

I don't think that as long as the individual may be paying subs that GR will do anything to sanction an abusive poster.

Later this month GR are apparently hosting a day for some of us to go and be part of looking at things. Maybe some of those who go will get the chance to raise this subject. I have put my name forward and received an acknowledgement but heard nothing since.

Does anyone know if GR keep up with threads or ignore us only until we RR? I hope that they have picked up on this thread and realise what a calm and intelligent discussion we are having and how much we have all been affected by recent events.J

Jill

I don't think they do read threads and posts regularly

And their response to RR'd posts and threads is far from consistent. They don't even seem to read the thread in its entirety when one post on it is reported.

It really does seem to depend who is on RR'ing duty that day

Some weeks ago, there was one OP on a thread by one of the people mentioned earlier that was reported twice, and reinstated both times, with the response being that it had been reviewed and deemed not to be against the T&C's, or whatever reason had been given.

Then it was reported a 3rd time, same reason given .............. and it was removed :-S :-S :-S

Duplicate posts have not been removed, even though that is one of the reasons listed ........ or the post with responses has been removed rather than the one reported.

It really is getting beyond a joke!

Posts were reinstated this week that had been RR'd for being duplicated. You know I always fret before I post that I might be duplicating somewhere. So I do a search of the name first to double check myself! :-S

Oh Jill,
So pleased I wrote to Thank YOU for your help today as I'd not read this til afterwards...
Why do just a few spoil it for the majority of us who have lost their way through the family branches?
Please keep us on the straight and narrow Jill and the Soap Box handy ! :-)

Hi Angela,

It's been a pleasure to help. The people you see who have joined me in the moan on here are just some of those who work really hard to help others. This last few weeks we haven't always had fun doing it, but people such as yourself make it worthwhile to keep on helping. :-D

Going to see if I can find out MC. I'm assuming that there is an RR somewhere. Or did you give someone a piece of your mind? I've was surfing for most of the afternoon whilst the tennis was on. Did I miss something?

JustDinosaurJill

JustDinosaurJill Report 8 Jul 2012 20:16

Sorry. Had to pay attention to the family.

Came back to the computer and

OH NO.

Only took me ten seconds.

Same surname search and same poster.

I'll leave it to you for a while.

All of a sudden that washing up looks inviting.

I can't wait for the response.

Okay I've just put a reply on his thread. Believe you me it was modified way down from how it started. :-|

Added edit.

Just been and posted another reply to what he obviously considered to be an apology and I also added llb. I know the suggestion was lbb but I kept in line with the llb already there. We know what it means of course.

Shall we leave it as llb or change in future to lbb?

Yours about to go and SCREAM because he just DOESN'T GET IT :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P
