My g.g granparents were Hugh Darcy and Mary Darcy (Ferguson). Mary was born around 1881 in Co Donegal based on the 1901 census, but i can find no records for the Ferguson family. Any assistance please.

Mark

Mark Report 1 Jan 2013 20:39

no, i have not found any marriage information. i know their first child was born around 1899 and that my g.granmother was born in 1902. i assume they married around 1898.

which census do you have then?

Mark

Mark Report 1 Jan 2013 20:52

i have them on the 1901 census, but can not find them on the 1911 census. i have my g.granmothers birth record, which gave me the Ferguson name. Thats when i run in to a dead end.

Mark,
On the 1901 census of Donegal..
Did you notice where the son Hugh was born?... It says GLASGOW
The birth of Hugh Darcy is registered 1898 Govan, Lanarkshire.
If you obtain this birth record from Scotlands People, the parents marriage details should be on it!
NB: Marriage not found in Scotland

i have the civil birth record for Mary (my g.granmother and Hugh's sister) from 1902, which records her mother as Mary Ferguson. it is the Ferguson line i'm having no luck in finding.

Glad to help Mark.
Well done Maura.
Dates are freaky... I know.
From my Irish roots my g grandmother and my gg grandmother ( her mother in law) both died very young and both in childbirth.
They died on the same date, but 23 years apart.
I gave birth to my own daughter on this date, exactly 100yrs & 123yrs after their deaths

Darcy Michael 30 Male Son Roman Catholic single

A check on any other children for Patrick and Honora shows
William b 1871
Hugh 1874*****
Mary 1877
Anne 1879
.....There may be others as 1901 Census shows Joe aged 13 and of course there is Michael aged 30 listed above....

I havent found the marriage yet and the 1911 Census doesnt indicate when they were married and how may children they actually had.
