It is a shame that the boards aren't as busy as they used to be, as TootyFruity said. It used to be that if you were helping even if all the helpers were 'out in force' so to speak, there were still plenty of queries popping up to keep everyone busy.

The same is true of all the boards even Chat nowadays you only have to look back to page two to catch up on the day's threads whereas a few years back you had to go much further back. Not always matters of much import , but plenty of choice to suit all tastes lol.

Gins - I have read a number of threads you have posted and always found them worth reading. Keep on keeping on :-)

It is so true that the boards are much less busy, as TF and RR have posted

I can remember coming on to GR at about 8 pm UK time ............. and I'd have to go back 8 or 9 pages to find the last thread on which I had posted about 12 hours earlier

and they were also very busy through the UK night, with overseas members posting and asking questions ........... even a few UK insomniacs

...... I nearly said "the odd UK insomniac" :-D :-D

It was so much fun then

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 16 Jun 2013 02:09

Off topic, I know .................

may I just say ...................

I do not actually like being called SylviaInCanada

that is NOT my name

it is my Board name, adopted in an attempt to separate myself from another Sylvia who was on the Boards many years ago, and who was causing trouble back around 2004/5

I got tired of signing all my posts Sylvia (in Canada) in order to get the separate identity and not be accused of causing trouble on what was then the equivalent of General Chat. That was despite the fact that I never ventured near that Board at that time.

Thank you

Gee Report 16 Jun 2013 02:17

Yup.....very hard work, for me!

I remembers 'that' Sylvia' :-0

jax Report 16 Jun 2013 02:47

My mums name is Sylvia and she hates it so she is Sylv or sometimes Sylvie...but I call her mum, she doesn't mind that :-D

I don't like my name nor does my mum...so I am Jax...never my full name, only doctors or people like that call me by that.

I remember when at school one particular teacher insisted on calling everyone by their full name...one girl her name was Jill.....this teacher would not have it and kept calling her Jillian :-D

Persephone

Persephone Report 16 Jun 2013 03:05

There is one in every school Jax... our Maths mistress insisted on calling all of us by our surnames... sounded like we were in the army... except for Annette who she insisted on calling Anne.... Her surname was Litherland so not hard to say...

and Agnes was Agnes because the teacher did one hiccough at saying her surname Schwalger and we laughed.

Tiptoes out quietly... I can hear Gins snoring. I always dares Gins... always...

jax .................

I'm not at all fond of "Sylv" ..........................

possibly because the first person who shortened my name to that was someone I did not like ;-)

covers Gins with a throw so she won't get cold in the early morning hours, and tip toes out

On here I'm TootyFruity or Toots. The same in some pms. Those members I like know my real name and when I communicate with them off boards I sign my first name.

Back to topic

I'm not conceited enough to initiate loads of threads on inane subjects on the off chance that someone may be interested in what I have to say. ;-)
