is there any where in the uk it would be possible to find out if my birth mother had other forenames as i was adopted the only paper work i have is the court order for my adoption also my birth certificate i have one fore name but if she had 2 it would make my task of finding my birth family so much quicker

brummiejan Report 6 Jul 2013 22:25

David, have you applied to have access to your adoption file? If not, you need to do so, as there might be more info in there which may help you.

KathleenBell Report 6 Jul 2013 22:28

I would have thought that if there is only one forename on your birth certificate and on the court order then it is likely that she only has one.

Do you have your adoption file?

Reggie Report 6 Jul 2013 23:11

The name on your birth cert should be her full name

Reggie Report 7 Jul 2013 12:24

Have you asked before about this?

brummiejan Report 7 Jul 2013 12:33

David, why did you never reply to this?

jax Report 7 Jul 2013 13:19

There have been at least 3 other threads since 2010...I would imagine david hasn't returned to any of them

brummiejan Report 7 Jul 2013 14:10

Probably a waste of time as this has been tried before, but have PM'd David advising him to reply on one of his threads - have suggested the one with above link as there is a fair amount of info on there.

where would one apply for my adoption file

KathleenBell Report 7 Jul 2013 20:47

Try the social services in the area you were born. If they don't have your file they should be able to point you in the right direction.
