Posting another thread about this man won't get you any different answers.....and will, in fact, only antagonise people.

Buy the 1842 marriage cert.....get some facts

I now think Ann Dobson was Jacobs 1st wife, there is a marriage 1803 in Bridlington, I cannot see any children for them. There is a possible death for Ann in May 1842 buried in Whitby. I then think Jacob re married to Mary Northwood in 1842.

I was not trying to get different answers or antagonise anyone I was asking for help with a different question so believed I had to start a new thread

Yes, of course you could be right...........but unless you want to carry on wondering, spend £9.25 on the marriage cert

No-one on here can say for certain..............

Toyah, as has been mentioned, you really do need to buy that 1842 marriage certificate. The details have previously been posted but here it is again:

England & Wales, FreeBMD Marriage Index, 1837-1915
Name: Jacob Hagues
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1842
Registration District: Bridlington
Inferred County: Yorkshire East Riding
Volume Number: 23
Page Number: 39

Records on Page:

Jacob Hagues <<<
Samuel Kirkman
Mary Northwood <<<
Ann Sampson
(Ignore the others)

You can order the certificate from GRO:

What information will it have on the marriage certificate, does it give birth date of those getting married? My problem is the name Jacob was carried down through generations. Does a birth certificate always reveal the parents way back then? I am intending to buy these I just wondered. Thanks

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 15 Aug 2013 08:20

As already explained, the marriage cert will tell you Jacob's father's name..................if he knew him.

It will also say whether Jacob was a widower...............

Marriage certs do not have the DOB's of the couple.........never have done.........

Of course birth certs name the parents - but this isn't really about a birth cert.
