This Is really interesting and helpful information.

I was sure 'my group' had emigrated to America, and died there, but a distant cousin associated them with the Jeremiah Higgins who had been in the Army, and died in the Withington Hospital/workhouse.

I found Jerminah as a lodger at 17- a silk weaver , in 1851, and as he is on the Registrars copy of his marriage certificate - which I bought.

At that point , his father is shown as another Jeremiah Higgins, weaver, deceased.
At 17 he is lodging with a family named Curtain, in Back of Style Street.

There is no way of know i suppose when they arrived, or where they came from in Ireland.
The solider is well documented from his service record.

thank you

So Ann Gagan in 1900 is probably related.

In other areas the tree isn't so helpful.
It has partly mixed up some of the details for Louisa and Mary Ann.

Yes, thats the family -William the son has the correct birth date, born 30 October 1866 bapt at St Chads 4 November, and Ann Gagan was a border at their house in earlier census returns for Barton upon Irwell. Lancs..

The two children seem to have gone to America earlier and the father joined them when the mother died.

There was Mary Ann Higgins born February 1870, and a Sarah Ann also a the eldest -Catherine (kate) born in c1860 who stayed and married here.

WOW
That was a greater more informative response that I expected....thank you all so much.

MY problem was i have a Jeremiah Higgins, a weaver, who lived in Barton upon Irwell, Manchester , and who appears to emigrated to America, (1882-1888) with four of his five children - when the were in the late 20's and after his wife Mary, died in June 1/4 of 1886.

They appear in the census for 1900 in Philadelphia, ,Pennsylvania., with the exception of two children Mary and Sarah Ann, who may have married of course.

Thank you so much that was marvellous help. :-D

Having said that, is he the one admitted in 1888 from Hulme, aged 49, died 3.1.89?
