Thanks very much, I shall have a look into these. It’s not easy using danish sites when you don’t understand the language!!

At least that’s more than you had before. The 18th century is probably difficult to research online with relation to Denmark

You still haven't amended Peter's birth year in your title

Have you looked at familysearch site? Or any other genealogy site?

Allison

Allison Report 8 Aug 2019 23:31

I’ve got a copy of peter Hansen’s marriage cert to Jane crossland on 27.7.1852, and it states that his father was called Soren Hansen . Haven’t really been able to get much further though :-(

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 4 Aug 2019 08:48

Are you planning to get a copy of the marriage certificate? Or do you not wish to find out if he knew who his father was?

Allison

Allison Report 31 Jul 2019 18:33

Thank you all for your help. I got the info I mentioned from family, but sadly I’m no longer in touch so can’t check details.

Thank you all once again, much appreciated

Good find on the 1852 marriage, alviegal. Probably out of area because it wasn't actually legal.

So - Alison, get a copy of the cert to see if Peter named a father

Progress!

Incidentally, Christian Coss is Jane's illigitimate daughter, not Christian's.

There is this marriage but I can't find the missing name. There is a Christopher Hart married to a Mary Ann living in Hartlepool in 1861.

EDIT Yes here she is in 1851 in Stockton and it fits with her marrying Mr Hart.

Shame, because that would have provided us with his father's name - if he knew it

Perhaps "Rilding" is a mistranscription of Kolding. The initial letter does look like either R or K on the image.

"Kolding (Danish pronunciation: ['k??le?]) is a Danish seaport located at the head of Kolding Fjord in the Region of Southern Denmark."
