Julia, no that is not the same family then , from the census and baptisms of the couple in Hanwell's children plus birth place it rules out a connection.

Yes thank you Chris. This is my Butler family in Essex. Just need to pinpoint Mary’s maiden name. As I said I’m beginning to doubt that it was Fishlock.

There are quite a few baptisms on Findmypast for the name Mary Fishlock born 1797 +/- 5 years but none of them are from Essex. Mostly Wiltshire, Hampshire or Somerset.

Thank you for you swift reply. I am not sure that this is the same family as mine? I think that my Mary and John Butler lived in Essexand their son Samuel who is my 3x Great Grandfather was born in 1826. He died in 1886. Also I thought there were just the four sons. Maybe I have his mother's maiden name wrong. This part ofy family was definitely Essex based. Mary was born in wix in Essex. What do you think? I would be grateful for your thoughts on this.

1851 England, Wales & Scotland Census
Kings Arms, Hanwell, Brentford, Middlesex, England

John Butler Head Widower Male 59 1792 - Brentford, Middlesex, England ( formerly a baker)
Benjamin Butler Son Unmarried Male 25 1826 Painter Hanwell, Middlesex, England
Elizabeth Butler Daughter Unmarried Female 23 1828 Housekeeper Hanwell, Middlesex, England

As far as I can remember the person who contacted me re the family thought that Mary had come from Hampshire, as there are pockets of Fishlocks there and in Wiltshire as well as the Hanwell/Brentford/Isleworth areas it is quite difficult to untangle them .

I am trying to discover more about my 4x Great Grandmother who I believe was born in Essex in 1797. She married John Butler, I believe in 1818 and had 4 sons - Samuel, William, James and John. I would like to find out about her parents if I can but can't seem to get any further. I would be grateful for any help anyone is able to offer. Thank you.
