The birth date stated on any death record depends on what the informant believed to be true.

It's possible that Dennis had claimed to be a few years older than he was, for whatever reason, or else the informant was mistaken about the year of birth.

As Erika has said, there is no 1924 birth for a Dennis W Lawson.

And the day and month match what Diane gave re his birth date.

Elizabeth ................

There are only a few items on a death certificate that you can trust .............

Date and place of death
Cause of death
Name, address and occupation of Informant
Name and address of Doctor
Name of Coroner

Literally everything else can be wrong, because it is information known by the informant, and that depends on what that person has been told!

We all have examples of family members who have the wrong date of birth and age ............. my grandfather lied to his family about that for all his life, so hence his son who reported his death gave the wrong information.

I have examples of people who used a different name all their adult lives, and a couple of others who have the wrong marital status

Nothing is illegal about any of that!

It's just a warning NOT to trust a death certificate!!

If you read carefully what I wrote when I told you about the second marriage, you will see that the death cert may not necessarily be of any help.

Have you contacted the other GR member who has Dennis in her tree?

You don't appear to have Nellie in your tree.
