I assume this is the death you found, Lynne?

LAMB, JOHN HULME 32
GRO Reference: 1916 S Quarter in STEYNING Volume 02B Page 301

Right name, and it certainly fits the DOD posted by Ann above.

If he died in a hospital, perhaps the informant didn't know his exact age.

As already said, he doesn't appear on the CWGC site because he wasn't a serving soldier at the time of death.

The pension record on FOLD3 states discharged 21/11/15 with tubercle lungs h........ & exhaustion agg. by active service. died 6/7/16

Wife's address 10 Bath Street Altrincham (separated) - not eligible for pension as John did not contribute towards her support prior to his enlistment. Annie b 15/8/1877

The children appear to be supported until the age of 16 - also says Peter died - dates of birth all given

Pension ceased for Peter when he died 30/12/17

Could be Erika. Thanks

I do have a John Lamb on my family gravestone who died in 1917 but it's not the one above.
My John was married to Jane.

Looked for a death after 1915 but before 1918 in case he was discharged then died of injuries later.
There is one in 1916, wrong age and totally wrong area but you never know not many Lamb's with a middle name of Hulme.
Maybe he was in a hospital

Well, he must have died between 1915 and 1918 - unless he and Annie divorced.

The middle initial is N, but very blurred on image:

The record posted by Maddie says he was discharged as unfit on 21/11/1915 - not that he died then.

If he didn't die in service, he won't be on the CWGC site - and he certainly doesn't seem to be.

My John's sister was Annie Astbury so that fits.
Unexpected visitor so will have to leave it for now but many thanks to both of you.
