I'm still inclined to think your Charles is with Mary and Ronald in 1921, but just not transcribed.
But you'd need to see the image in order to know if that's correct or not.

When was your Charles born?? Who were his parents?

You've said c1880, and also 1878 - but there's no birth of a Charles Henry Goodlass in either of those years.

I've found him on all the censuses since he was a child, but cant find him anywhere on the 1921,but if the transcriptions are so bad then maybe he was there but has not been transcribed for some reason

The 1898 Charles isn't the right one.
