Hi Could someone please advise me, I have looked on deceased on line for a burial place of a relative but with no luck, could someone tell me if there is somewhere else I can look please

ErikaH Report 6 Nov 2023 12:16

When and where did he/she die, please?

Local newspaper????

deceasedonline has very limited coverage

nameslessone Report 6 Nov 2023 12:40

A similar site to Deceasedonline is Findagrave.

If you know when and where then the councils cemetry officer may be able to help.

At lot depends on the when though.

Linda Report 6 Nov 2023 13:02

Thank you, his name was Thomas Scott and he died in the late 1970s in Mansfield (almost sure)

ErikaH Report 6 Nov 2023 13:22

Find the death on freebmd for accuracy

You can't search properly until you have factual info

Are you 100% certain that he was buried?

Hi I have found his death 2nd quarter 1979 in Mansfield but no information about where he is buried or cremated and I have no idea how to find him

ErikaH Report 6 Nov 2023 17:28

Get a copy of the death cert for FULL info about date and place of death.
Mansfield is the DISTRICT, not the exact place of death.

Then google for contact info for nearest cemetery

ArgyllGran Report 6 Nov 2023 18:00

This is the only Thomas Scott death in 2nd qr 1979 in Mansfield:

Deaths Jun 1979 (>99%)

Is that him?

His birth (illegitimate):

GRO Reference: 1918 M Quarter in NOTTINGHAM Volume 07B Page 700

His memorial isn't listed on Findagrave - but many aren't.

Follow ErikaH's advice in the previous post.

I don't see him in 1939.

In 1921 he's in Nottingham:

Thomas Albert Layton
[Birthplace] Nottinghamshire, England
[Residence ] Nottingham

He's with Albert [surname?], Annie E [surname? ], Annie Elizabeth Scott 1920, and 1 other.

GRO Reference: 1920 M Quarter in NOTTINGHAM Volume 07B Page 884
